Cartridges are the parts inside of a faucet that turn the water on and off and adjusts the temperature of the water. They generally are brass constructed, or today are brass lead free (some manufactures have either chrome or polished brass plated their stems). There are cartridges for two handle faucets and single handle mixing faucets. Cartridge assemblies are made with the following components: a bonnet, a gland, a broached stem, “O” rings, two ceramic discs, a bonnet gasket, a bottom gasket. North Shore Faucets, Inc. carries a large selection of cartridges for all types of faucets. North Shore Faucets, Inc.carries a large selection of stems for all types of faucets. Please note: that there are differences between hot and cold cartridges, hots generally close clockwise, cold cartridges close counterclockwise. If you have a faucet and it has round, Square or cross handles typically you need two hot cartridges. If you have a faucet with lever handles typically you need a hot and cold cartridge. The only difference in the cartridges is the rotation otherwise all stems are made from the same material in the same faucet.
